CITY OF SOUTH BEND HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Upon a motion by David Wyncott, seconded by Patrick Deegan, and carried by vote, <br />the Historic Preservation Commission APPROVES Certificate of Appropriateness <br />Application #2021-0517. <br />Vote: 4-1. Four in favor, One opposed. <br />COA #2021-0517 is approved. <br />iv. 2021-0506 745 Leland Avenue Chapin Park, Ordinance #9574-05 <br />(Audio Position: 27:04) <br />The staff report was presented by Adam Toering. <br />Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends the Commission ask the applicant to <br />amend their application as submitted to keep the existing soffit as wood, instead of <br />replacing with aluminum. Staff recommends approval of the remaining application <br />items as submitted (the fascia will be hidden behind the gutters/downspout). <br />The applicant was represented by: <br />Corey Madaras, 18382 Clairmont Dr. South Bend, IN 46637 <br />The public was represented by: <br />Cole Hay, 841 Park Ave South Bend, IN 46616, spoke against the petition. <br />After due consideration, the following action was taken: <br />Upon a motion by Eric Stalheim, seconded by John Tiffany, and carried by vote, the <br />Historic Preservation Commission approves the splitting of the petition into two parts. <br />Vote: 5-0. Five in favor, none opposed. <br />Motion is approved. <br />Upon a motion by Eric Stalheim, seconded by John Tiffany, and carried unanimously <br />by vote, the Historic Preservation Commission approves the removal and <br />replacement of the asphalt shingles on the roof, the replacement of the existing wood <br />fascia with aluminum and replacement of 5" gutters and downspouts in aluminum. <br />Vote: 5-0. Five in favor, none opposed. <br />Motion is approved. <br />Upon a motion by Eric Stalheim, seconded by John Tiffany, and carried by vote, the <br />Historic Preservation Commission remands the material of the soffits to staff, with a <br />request that the material be something other than aluminum. <br />Vote: 5-0.
