BILL NO. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. '7, M->7 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 6, OF THE <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> ADDRESSING TAX ABATEMENT PROCEDURES <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br /> The South Bend Common Council has developed a thorough yet reasonable <br /> procedure for reviewing real and personal property tax abatement petitions <br /> consistent wth State law. <br /> The Council believes that with the growing number of families where <br /> both parents or single parents are working outside of the household, that <br /> there is an increased need for quality day care or child care services. <br /> This ordinance incorporates a review procedure into day care or child <br /> care facilities, services and benefits offered by employees who seek real or <br /> personal property tax abatement from the City. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMA COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: <br /> Section I . Chapter 2, Article 6, Section 2-76 (D) entitled "Petition <br /> Informatio'is hereby amended by the inclusion of new sub-section (20) <br /> which shall read in its entirety as follows: <br /> Sec. 2-76 Personal and Real Property Tax Abatement <br /> Procedures. <br /> (D) Petition Information. <br /> (20) A description of any on-site child care <br /> or day care facilities, services or benefits <br /> currently offered or proposed to be offered <br /> by the petitioner for children of employees. <br /> Section II . Chapter 2, Article 6, Section 2-78 (b) entitled "Annual <br /> Reports Required" is hereby amended by the inclusion of new sub-section (6) <br /> which shall read in its entirety as follows: <br /> Sec. 2-78 Annual Reports Required <br /> (b) <br /> (6) A description of on-site child care or day care <br /> facilities, services, or benefits offered by <br /> the petitioner for children of employees since <br /> the completion of the project for which tax <br /> abatement was given. <br /> Section III .
