The will of the late Arthur A. Fredrickson stated that the residue of his estate after satisfying other conditions of his will, should be used for the establishment, beautification, maintenance and full equipment by the City of South Bend, Indiana by and through its Board of Park Commissioners of a Public Park in said City to be named and known as Fredrickson Park. The Park Department used part of the funds to purchase 14.24 acres of land in the 1300 block of South Bend Avenue at Jacob Street. The Park Board will hire Cole & Associates to prepare plans and spec- ifications for the Fredrickson Park. The Park Board will also hold a public hearing for residents in the area of the proposed park to receive input on the park development. The Park Department has received a check for $150, 000.00 to get the park project started this spring and will request the balance (140,000.00) when needed to complete the park.
