REGULAR MEETING MAY 11,2021 100
ADOPTED this 11 th day of May, 2021.
CITY OF SOUTH BEND
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
s/ Elizabeth A. Maradik
s/ Gary A. Gilot
s/ Joseph R. Molnar
s/ Murray L. Miller
ATTEST:
/s/Anne Fuchs, Clerk
At this time, Executive Director of Public Works Eric Horvath asked the Board if they had any
additional questions, he could assist with regarding the Ride Share Program. Mr. Gilot said that
he appreciated Eric's prior clarifications that the program is non-exclusive and that anyone can
park in the Ride Share parking spot; that the program is most likely applied to the downtown and
Eddy Street Commons areas, or anywhere where there is a lot of commercial ride traffic; and that
this is not for residential neighborhoods.
Eric Horvath added that this is all correct, and that the goal is to make things safer, following the
death of a young woman getting into an Uber on South Bend Avenue. A lot of times Ride Share
drivers double park, and these designated parking spots should make it easier for riders to safely
enter these vehicles in high volume areas and will be restricted to the times of day when high
volume is expected.
APPROVAL OF AGREEMENTS/CONTRACTS/PROPOSALS/ADDENDA
Mr. Jordan Gathers returned to the meeting at this time and participated in the remaining meeting
business.
