• <br /> (c) All of the above described items shall be properly <br /> addressed in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement for <br /> calendars 1989 and 1990 which shall be subject to approval <br /> by the Board of Public Safety and subsequent modification. <br /> SECTION VIII. SERVICE YEAR FOR PAY AND BENEFITS <br /> ADDRESSED IN ORDINANCE. <br /> The first service year for a member of the Fire <br /> Department commences upon his or her being sworn in before <br /> the Board of Safety as a member of that department. His or <br /> her second service year shall begin on the next succeeding <br /> first day of January and service years shall continue to <br /> increase until the member attains the maximum salary for the <br /> particular rank he or she may hold. However, promotion to <br /> Engineer shall be dependant upon the completion of three <br /> full years of service from date of swearing in, and <br /> compliance with state law governing promotions through the <br /> Board of Public Safety. <br /> SECTION IX.
