wood and glass_• is lighter and more transparent in comparison <br />to the heaviness of the brick of the original house. <br />Because the brick used on the original house is no longer <br />available, any new brick should match as closely as <br />possible, but still the amount of brick should be minimized. <br />The roofs of the original house are either gable or hip. A <br />steep gable roof on the addition is not possible due to the <br />window located above the addition. Therefore a hip roof <br />which matches more closely to the one on the front facade as <br />opposed to the shallow hip roof as proposed would be more <br />appropriate. <br />The staff recommends approval of the design with the <br />condition that the amount of brick on the addition is <br />minimized and the hip roof line more closely matches that of <br />the front hip roof portion. <br />blp <br />
