<br /> <br />SBBPC <br />OUTH END OARD OF ARK OMMISSIONERS <br />RM <br />EGULAR EETING <br />M17,2008 <br />ARCH <br /> <br />The Board of Park Commissioners of the Park District of the City of South Bend, Indiana met on <br />Monday the of at the O’Brien Administration & Recreation Center, 321 E. Walter St., South <br />Bend, Indiana for its regular meeting. Notice of the date, time and place of the meeting were duly <br />given as required by law. <br /> <br />Park Board members present were as follows: <br />Mr. Robert Henry, President <br />Mr. Robert Goodrich, Vice President <br />Dr. Thomas Kelly <br />Mr. Garrett Mullins <br /> <br />Park Board members absent were as follows: <br /> None <br /> <br />Staff members present: Phil St. Clair, Superintendent; Betsy Harriman, Administrative Director; <br />Bill Carleton, Fiscal Officer; Susan O’Connor, Recreation Director; Randy Nowacki, Director of <br />Golf Operations; Terry DeRosa, Zoo Director; Richard Payton, Development Director; Mike <br />Dyszkiewicz, Maintenance Superintendent; Thomas Landgrebe, Zoo Maintenance Foreman; <br />Matthew Moyers, Special Projects Manager; Thomas Bodnar, Park Board Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />I.The meeting was called to order by Board President Robert Henry at 4:01 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />II.The first order of business was the interviewing of interested citizens. <br /> <br /> <br />1.Botanical Society- Ms. Martha Lewis of the Botanical Society reported that a volunteer <br />from Catholic Charities has identified 250 plants in the facility. She is having signs made <br />for a number of them. <br />Directional street signs are being installed around the city. Fifteen signs have been <br />ordered. <br />The annual flower sale is underway as a fund raiser. <br />An $18,000 challenge grant from Wells Fargo has been met. They will donate $1,800 <br />April 1. <br />An electrician has volunteered to do any electrical work at the Greenhouse. They will <br />supply a list for him to do things the Park electrician hasn’t been able to get to. Director <br />St. Clair directed her to speak with Mr. Dyszkiewicz. <br /> <br />2.Update of Zoo Improvements- Chet Gamble, CTG Associates <br />Mr. Gamble, of CTG Associates, updated the Board on the progress of Zoo <br />improvements. A list of prioritized projects was presented to the Board. Bidding <br />documents and specifications are being prepared. <br />Director St. Clair emphasized that the timeline is the most important factor.
