" <br /> It is my understanding in talking with the Council <br /> Attorney that this ordinance is required to keep the <br /> City in compliance with the National Floodplain <br /> Insurance Program regulations set forth by the federal <br /> government. It is my further understanding that the <br /> actual definition proposed in the attached bill was <br /> approved by the Area Plan Commission at its meeting of <br /> December 15, 1987 (copy attached of the Area Plan <br /> recommendation) . Unfortunately, the actual bill was <br /> never filed by Area Plan with the City Clerk's office. <br /> As a result, the Council Attorney has drafted the <br /> attached bill for Council approval. <br /> The bill should be set for first reading on Monday, <br /> January 25 and have public hearing before the Common <br /> Council on Monday, February 8. <br /> I look forward to discussing this bill with you at <br /> an upcoming meeting of the Zoning and Vacation <br /> Committee.
