Promptly remedy loss and damage to new condition per <br />manufacturer’s instructions. <br />c. Keep all products off ground using pallets, platforms, or other supports. Protect steel, packaged <br />materials, and electronics from corrosion and deterioration. <br />5. Warranty: <br />a. Provide manufacturer’s written warranty, running to the benefit of the OWNER, agreeing to <br />correct, at OWNER’s option, remove, or replace materials or equipment specified in this section <br />and found to be defective for a period of three years after date of final completion. <br />6. Refer to Exhibit 1 for <br /> details. <br /> <br />7. Motor shall have an AEGIS Grounding Ring or approved equal. <br />8. Proposed substituted item specifications must be submitted to the Owner and Engineer a minimum <br />of seven (7) days prior to bid opening date. The City of South Bend will determine if substitute <br />product is equal in quality and intent and will issue a statement to the Bidder. <br /> <br />US Motor Replacement Inverter Duty with a Grounding Ring ……………………LS <br /> <br />XXIV. ALTERNATE 1: PUMP MODIFICATION & VALVE CONVERSION <br /> <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: None <br />B. Additions: <br /> <br />1. Modify pump to configure flow meter and replacing the existing gate valve with a butterfly valve. <br />2. Flow Meter: <br />a. Position flow measuring devices in pipelines so that they have the amount of straight upstream <br />and downstream runs recommended by the manufacturer. <br />b. Position flow measuring devices so that it can be easily read by the operator during checks. <br />c. The flow meter shall be provided by the Contractor. <br />d. The flow measuring device will be a Siemens Sitrans FM MAG 5000 series Flow Meter or <br />approved equal. <br />e. The flow measuring device accuracy shall be within +/- 0.4% +/- 1 mm/s. <br />f. The flow measuring device shall withstand temperatures between -20°C to 50°C. <br />3. Silent Check: <br />a. Silent check to be of wafer style. <br />4. Valve: <br />a. Contractor shall convert the existing gate valve configuration to a butterfly valve. <br />(i) The butterfly valve shall be provided by the Contractor. <br />(ii) The butterfly valve shall be manufactured by Pratt or an approved equal. <br />b. Remove and salvage existing gate valve. Provide the Owner the salvaged gate valve. <br />c. Valve Installation: <br />(i) Install valves plumb and level unless otherwise approved. <br />(ii) Install valves free from distortion and strain caused by misaligned piping, equipment, or <br />other causes. <br />(iii) Valves shall be installed with sufficient clearance for proper operation of any external <br />mechanisms, and with sufficient clearance to dismantle the valve for in-place maintenance. <br />(iv) Installation shall be in accordance with the valve manufacturer’s recommendations. <br />(v) Butterfly valves shall be installed with the shaft horizontal unless otherwise necessary for <br />proper operation or as acceptable to the Owner. <br />(vi) Position butterfly valves so that they do not conflict with upstream and downstream <br />elements of the piping system or adjacent elements.
