City of South Bend Central Services Division <br />Fire Service, Inc./Wheeled Coach Ambulance <br />Specification <br />OVERHEAD GRABRAIL <br />An overhead grabrail shall be installed in the patient compartment head liner. The <br />grabrail shall be yellow powder coated stainless steel and handicapped style with <br />rounded ends. The grabrail shall be a minimum of 117 inches long and shall be <br />mounted in a recess in the liner. <br />ENTRY DOOR GRAB HANDLES <br />On each entry door there shall be an L shaped grab handle. The vertical portion <br />of the L shall be close to the hinge of the door and run the full length of the upper <br />window in the door. The horizontal portion of the L shall be located just under <br />the upper window. The grab handles shall be 1 inch diameter brushed stainless <br />steel and handicapped style. <br />OXYGEN, MAIN SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION <br />The ambulance shall have a hospital type piped oxygen system capable of storing <br />and supplying three thousand liters of medical oxygen. The cylinder controls shall <br />be accessible from inside the patient compartment. The pressure gauge shall be <br />visible from either the attendant's seat or from the squad bench. The oxygen shall <br />be piped to two self sealing Ohio adaptable oxygen outlets located in the action <br />area, one located in the liner at the head of the cot, and one located on the <br />curbside wall at the head of the squad bench. There shall be an NCG vacuum port <br />in the action area. There shall be an electric oxygen switch in the action area that <br />shall engage a solenoid to open and close a valve on the oxygen tank. It shall also <br />include a manual bypass knob in the action area in the event of an electric oxygen <br />malfunction. The oxygen system will incorporate electrically conducted oxygen <br />hose with a working pressure of one hundred and fifty pounds per square inch. All <br />oxygen hose and outlets will use machine crimped brass ferrules and high <br />pressure connectors. The entire oxygen delivery system will be pressured tested <br />with a minimum of one hundred and fifty pounds per square inch of pressure of <br />nitrogen gas for a period of four hours.
