City of South Bend Central Services Division <br />Fire Service, Inc./Wheeled Coach Ambulance <br />Specification <br />The curb side door step well shall have a light recessed into wall one of the step <br />well. It shall be automatically lit when the side and rear doors are opened. The <br />light shall be activated by a switch. The step well shall be finished with a polished <br />aluminum diamond plate. There shall be a window in each of the three patient <br />access doors. The window frame shall be of an extruded aluminum design with a <br />protective anodized finish. The curbside entry door window shall include a <br />sliding window to allow for fresh air when needed. The two rear door windows <br />shall have fixed glass. The glass shall have a privacy tint. <br />The curbside window shall have the following dimensions: 26 1/2 inches high <br />and 19 1/2 inches wide. The rear windows shall be 22 1/2 inches high and 13 1/2 <br />inches wide. <br />WINDOW OVER SQUAD BENCH <br />A window shall be installed above the squad bench. It shall be manufactured of <br />extruded anodized aluminum. The window shall be 12"W x 36" high fixed and <br />have a privacy tint. <br />PATIENT ENTRY DOOR LATCHES, HINGES AND HARDWARE <br />When the doors are opened, the hinges, latches and door checks shall not protrude <br />into the patient compartment. All patient doors shall employ the same type of <br />locking hardware. All door latches shall comply with FMVSS 206. The locking <br />devices shall be two stage rotary latches and shall be in accordance with FMVSS. <br />There shall be two door latches, one at the top and one at the bottom, controlled <br />by a single locking handles. The latches shall lock into an adjustable Nader type <br />pin located in the door frame. The Nader will utilize a captive nut to provide <br />adjustment and replacement without loss of the nut plate. The door latching <br />mechanism shall have an upper and lower patented "Emergency Release Latch" <br />to allow egress from the vehicle if a system failure should occur. <br />The door handles shall be Trimark OEM style handle with a large enough space <br />for gloved hands to operate the handle. The door handles shall be free floating <br />with 1008 cold rolled steel mechanical components with Nitrotec treated wear <br />10070-0003 11 /05/20 <br />21 <br />
