AMBULANCE SPECIFICATIONS <br />TYPE I <br />CLASS I, CONFIGURATION A <br /> <br />2020 STAR-OF-LIFE CERTIFIED AMBULANCE <br />170" X 96" <br /> <br /> <br />The Emergency Medical Vehicle described in this specification is designed to meet <br />or exceed the requirements of the Federal Ambulance Specification KKK-A-1822 <br />Revision F, and AMD Standards 001-009. <br /> <br />NOTE: Throughout the written Federal Ambulance Specification KKK-A-1822, there <br />are frequent references to items to be included WHEN SPECIFIED. The <br />manufacturer will build into a given ambulance any WHEN SPECIFIED item, but <br />such items may not be included in the attached specifications. <br /> <br /> <br />“OR APPROVED EQUAL” CLAUSE <br /> <br />To expedite the purchase of this Ambulance, a generic set of specifications has been <br />used. The mention in the specification of chassis, equipment, or material by brand <br />name or by such specified description of same hereby made, is intended to convey <br />to the bidder’s understanding, the degree of excellence required. Any article, <br />equipment, or material which shall conform to the standards and excellence so <br />established, and is of equal merit, strength, durability, and appearance to perform the <br />desired function, is deemed eligible for offer as a substitute. The qualification of the <br />offering shall be judged as to their conformance with these specifications. Any <br />equipment offered other than herein specified shall be subject to a competitive <br />demonstration and evaluation by the using department. Such demonstration to be <br />provided on request within ten working days after the receipt of bids and the result of <br />that demonstration and evaluation shall be of prime importance in the <br />recommendation to the governing body for the final contract award. YES__NO__) and the ‘’OR APPROVED EQUAL’’ item shall be listed using <br />the item numbering system within this document. <br /> Y___N___ <br /> <br />1.0 INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS <br /> <br />This specification covers a new commercially built surface emergency medical care <br />vehicle herein after referred to as ambulance or vehicle. A vehicle in compliance <br />with this specification shall be defined as a standard ambulance. This vehicle shall <br />be in accord with the Ambulance Design Criteria of the National Highway Traffic <br />Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation, Washington D.C. This bid <br />specification is based on the Federal Ambulance Specification KKK-A-1822F <br />effective July 2007. <br />
