• <br /> BILL NO. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 8343--9A <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AMENDING THE MONTHLY SEWER <br /> INSURANCE CUSTOMER RATE ADDRESSED IN CHAPTER 17, <br /> ARTICLE 7, SECTION 17-56 (a) OF THE SOUTH BEND <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE. <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br /> The Bureau of Sewers currently collects fifty cents ( $ .50) per month <br /> from all sewer service customers who are not industrial or bulk water <br /> customers. <br /> This charge is collected and deposited in a separate fund of the <br /> Bureau of Sewers. This fund is used solely to address the repair and/or <br /> replacement of failing private sewer connections and also addresses the <br /> administrative and inspection costs associated with this program. <br /> The purpose of this Ordinance is to amend the current monthly <br /> customer charge of fifty cents ($ . 50) per month to a monthly charge of <br /> seventy-one cents ( $.71) per month so as to eliminate a negative cash <br /> balance situation. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: <br /> Section I. Chapter 17, Article 7, Section 17-56 (a) of the <br /> South Bend Municipal Code shall be, and hereby is, amended to <br /> read as follows: <br /> Section 17-56 Purpose, assessment of charges; deposit in <br /> separate fund. <br /> (a) The sum of fifty-eeats-+$9-594 seventy-one cents ( $0.71) <br /> per month shall be added to sewer service charges for all sewer users <br /> which are not industrial or bulk water customers. All of said sums of <br /> money so collected shall be deposited in a separate fund of the Bureau of <br /> Sewers. <br /> (b) All funds collected under section 17-60 of this article, <br /> "Charges to private sewer owner; payment," shall also be deposited in <br /> this separate fund of the Bureau of Sewers. <br /> (c) All of said sums of money so collected shall be deposited in <br /> a separate fund of the Bureau of Sewers, and said fund shall be used <br /> solely to address the repair and/or replacement of failing private sewer <br /> connections, and to address administrative and inspection costs <br /> associated with this program. <br /> Section II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from <br /> and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />
