South Bend Fire Department <br />The extrusions shall be designed as structural-framing members with the smooth aluminum and <br />treadplatefabricated to form compartments, hosebeds, and floors. All aluminum material shall <br />be welded together using the latest mig spray pulse arcwelding system. <br />Compartment floors shall be of the sweep out design with the floor higher than the compartment <br />door lip and to be waterand dust proof. All compartments shall be made to the maximum <br />practical dimensions to provide maximum storage capacity. To ensure maximum storage space, <br />the apparatus shall be constructed without any void spaces between the body and the <br />compartment walls. Double wall construction does not meet this requirement. <br />All exterior compartments shall have polished aluminum drip moldings installed above the doors <br />wherenecessary to prevent water fromentering the compartments. <br />Wheelwell panels shallbe formedaluminum that is welded in place. There shall be no visible <br />bolt heads, retention nuts or fasteners on the exterior surface of the panel.To fully protect the <br />wheel well areafrom road debris and to aid in cleaning, a full depth radiuswheel well liner shall <br />be provided. Theframeside of the wheel well area on each side of the opening shall be attached <br />to the frame side of the front and rear compartments. All seams on the frame side of the body <br />shall be welded andcaulked to prevent moisture from entering the compartments. <br />The rear wheel wells shall be radius cut fora streamlined appearance.Afenderette shall be <br />furnished at eachrearwheel well opening, held inplace with stainless steelfasteners. <br />FASTENERS <br />All aluminum and stainless steel components shall be attached using stainless steel fasteners. <br />Compartment door hinges, handrails and runningboards shall be attachedusing minimum 1/4" <br />diameter machine bolt fasteners. <br />3/16" diameter fastenersshall only be used in nonstructural areas suchas; door handles, trim <br />moldings, gauge mounting, etc. <br />One (1)Electrolysis CorrosionCntrl <br />30-01-2250 <br />ELECTROLYSIS CORROSION CONTROL <br />TheapparatusshallbeassembledusingECKorelectrolysiscorrosioncontrol,onallhighcorrosion <br />potentialareas,suchasdoorlatches,doorhinges,trimplates,fenderettes,etc.Thiscoatingisa <br />highzinccompoundthatshallactasasacrificialbarriertopreventelectrolysisandcorrosion <br />betweendissimilarmetals.Thisshallbeinadditiontoanyotherbarriermaterialthatmaybeused. <br />10040-001909/02/20 <br />67 <br />PDF created with pdfFactory Pro trial version www.pdffactory.com <br /> <br />
