South Bend Fire Department <br />One (1)Pump Shift,Waterous,Elec/Pneumatic Operated <br />20-26-3200 <br />ELECTRIC/PNEUMATIC PUMP SHIFT <br />Thefirepumpshiftshallbeair-operatedincorporatinganaircylinderwithanelectricallyactuated <br />pneumaticswitchtoshiftfromROADtoPUMPandback.Thefirepumpshiftcontrolswitchand <br />valve shall be mounted in the cab. <br />Thefirepumpshiftsystemshallbeequippedwithameanstopreventunintentionalmovementof <br />thecontroldevicefromitssetposition.Thesystemshallincludeanameplateindicatingthe <br />chassistransmissionshiftselectorpositiontobeusedforpumpingandlocatedsothatitcanbe <br />easily readfrom the driver's position. <br />Thesystemshallinclude theapplicableNFPAstandardinterlocks,pumpshiftandOKTOPUMP <br />indicatorlightsinthecabandpumppanel.Thefirepumpshiftsystemshallbeequippedwithan <br />interlocksystemtoensurethatthepumpdrivesystemcomponentsareproperlyengagedinthe <br />pumpingmodeofoperationsothepumpingsystemcanbesafelyoperatedfromthepump <br />operator's position. <br />If applicable, the secondary braking device shall be automatically disengaged for pumping <br />operations. <br />One (1)Pump Shift,Waterous,Cvr <br />20-26-3600 <br />FIRE PUMP SHIFT COVER <br />The fire pump shift control shall be equipped with a cover to preventaccidental movement of the <br />pump engagement control. <br />One (1)Primer,Trident AirPrimer, Automatic <br />20-29-1200 <br />PRIMER – AUTOMATIC <br />Anautomaticfirepumpprimingsystemshallbeprovidedandinstalled.Thesystemshallbeoil- <br />lesstypeandenvironmentallysafe.Onceengaged,thesystemshallbefullyautomaticandnot <br />requireanyactionfromthepumpoperator/engineerwhenpumpdraftislost.Thisfeatureprovides <br />anadditionalsafetymarginbymaintainingpumpflowfromtheavailablewatersource <br />automaticallyduringdraftingoperations.Whenairisintroducedduringadraftingoperationfrom <br />conditionssuchaswhirlpoolsorturbulencefromporta-tankrefilloperations,theprimingsystem <br />shallautomaticallyengagetoremovetheairandstabilizewaterflowandpumppressure.For <br />additional safety, the entire system shall operate at less than 70dBA of ambient noise. <br />The priming system shall engage automatically whenever the pump discharge falls below five(5) <br />psiandshallremainengageduntilapumpprimehasbeenachieved.Theprimingsystemshall <br />automaticallydisengagewhenapositivepumpdischargepressurehasbeenestablished.The <br />electrical currentdraw from the chassis batteriesshall not exceed four (4)amps at any given time <br />10040-001909/02/20 <br />38 <br />PDF created with pdfFactory Pro trial version www.pdffactory.com <br /> <br />
