South Bend Fire Department <br />·Holesmadeintheroofshallbecaulkedwithsilicone.Largefenderwashersshallbeusedwhen <br />fastening equipment to the underside of the cabroof. <br />·Anyelectricalcomponentthatisinstalledinanexposedareashallbemountedinamannerthat <br />will not allow moisture to accumulate in it. <br />·Acoilofwiremustbeprovidedbehindanelectricalappliancetoallowthemtobepulledaway <br />from mounting areaforinspection and service work. <br />·Alllightsthathavetheirsocketsinaweatherexposedareashallhavecorrosionpreventative <br />compound added to the socket terminal area. <br />Thewarninglightsshallbeswitchedinthechassiscabwithlabeledswitchesinanaccessible <br />location.Individualrockerswitchesshallbeprovidedonlyforwarninglightsprovidedoverthe <br />minimumlevelofwarninglightsineitherthestationaryormovingmodes.Allelectricalequipment <br />switchesshallbemountedonaswitchpanelmountedinthecabconvenienttotheoperator.The <br />warninglightswitchesshallbeoftherockertype.Foreasynighttimeoperation,anintegral <br />indicatorlightshallbeprovidedtoindicatewhenthecircuitisenergized.Allswitchesshallbe <br />appropriately identified as to their function. <br />A single warning light switch shall activate all required warning lights. This switch will allow the <br />vehicletorespondtoanemergencyand"callfortherightofway".Whentheparkingbrakeis <br />applied,a"blockingrightofway"systemshallautomaticallyactivateperrequirementsofthe <br />applicableNFPAstandards.All"clear"warninglightsshallbeautomaticallyturnedoffupon <br />application of the parking brake. <br />NFPA REQUIRED TESTING OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM <br />Theapparatusshallbeelectricallytesteduponcompletionofthevehicleandpriortodelivery.The <br />electricaltesting,certifications,andtestresultsshallbesubmittedwithdeliverydocumentation <br />perrequirementsoftheapplicableNFPAstandards.Thefollowingminimumtestingshallbe <br />completed by the apparatus manufacturer: <br />1. Reserve capacity test: <br />Theengineshallbestartedandkeptrunninguntiltheengineandenginecompartmenttemperatures <br />arestabilizedatnormaloperatingtemperaturesandthebatterysystemisfullycharged.Theengine <br />shallbeshutoffandtheminimumcontinuouselectricalloadshallbeactivatedforten(10)minutes. <br />Allelectricalloadsshall beturnedoffpriortoattemptingtorestarttheengine.Thebatterysystem <br />shallthenbecapableofrestartingtheengine.Failuretorestarttheengineshallbeconsidereda <br />failed test. <br />2.
