South Bend Fire Department <br />CommanderChassis <br />The 4-Front system shall deploy the following components in the event ofa frontal or oblique <br />impact event: <br />·Driver side front air bag <br />·Officer side knee air bag <br />·Seat Belt Buckle pre-tensioners <br />ROLLTEK <br />The Apparatus shall be equipped with the IMMIRollTek system which will provide protection <br />during a slow or fast 90-degreerollover. The system shall analyze the vehicle’s angleand rate of <br />roll to determine the exact time for optimal protection. <br />This system shall include the following: <br />·Driver andOfficer side airbags <br />·Crew seats shall beequipped with an (SRA) SideRollover Airbag on all outboard seating <br />positions which are located within 6" of the outerwall. <br />·All seat belts shall also have a buckle pre-tensioner to tighten the belts down to maximize <br />protection of the occupant (no exception) <br />The driver sideair bag shall be mounted inside the steering wheel and shallbe designed to <br />protect the head and upper torso of the Driver, when used in combination with the 3-point seat <br />belt, in the event of afrontal or oblique impact. The officer side knee bolster air bag shall be <br />mounted in the panel below the officer dashandwill be designed to protect the legs of the <br />Officer, when used in combination with the 3-point seat belt, in the eventof a frontal or oblique <br />impact. <br />In theevent ofa frontal or oblique impact, the system shall deploy the front driver and officer air <br />bags and activate the seat belt pre-tensioners on suspension seats to restrainthe seat in the lowest <br />travel position. Seat belts will firmly hold both occupants in place. <br />The caband chassis design shall have been subjected to a 21 MPH crash impact during frontal <br />and oblique impact testing. Testing shall include all major chassis and cabcomponents such as <br />mounting straps for fueland air tanks, suspension mounts, front suspension components, rear <br />suspension components, fame rail cross members, engine and transmissionand their mounts, <br />frameextensions and body mounts.
