Community Investment stated this proposal <br />sets a bad precedent and is prohibited within the current zoning district by the South Bend <br />Zoning Ordinance and suggested denial. They also stated that the South Bend Zoning staff would <br />be glad to assist with an alternate proposal that better integrates the sign and is permitted by the <br />zoning. The Engineering Department stated they agreed with Community Investments to limit <br />the tree lawn for use by public and private utilities, trees, streetlights, traffic signs, and that <br />private signs should be placed on private property, not in the right-of-way.
