Tax Abatements
(1) continued...
Mr. Bolka noted that Hereaus Kulzer has had
a nice operation on the south side with sixty-
one jobs originally coming from Miles
Laboratories-Bayer. They are looking at
making this investment for efficiency
purposes, but want to consider incentives and
additional justification. Most of
their competitors are on the east and west
coasts.
Mr. Peczkowski: So these improvements are
in your best interest as far as distribution? Or
as your competitive stance to those people
that are not in ... Mr. Bolka responded that it
is in the company's best interest to have its
operations at a single site. It makes for a
more efficient control of the processes and
lower overhead.
Mr. Peczkowski: And in an expansion you
would anticipate that you would be hiring on
new people. Do you pay them health
benefits? Mr. Bolka responded that they do.
Mr. Peczkowski: And pension benefits? Mr.
Bolka responded yes.
Mr. Peczkowski: When I'm looking at your
points as to qualifying for the public benefit
15
