South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -July 21, 2000
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
j. Commission approval requested for proposal
for professional services in the South Bend
Central Development Area. (Removal of
Dead/Dying Tree at 613 South St.)
Mr. Giulioni asked that this item be tabled due to
lack of estimates from tree removal services.
k. Commission approval requested for proposal
for professional services in the South Bend
Central Development Area. (General lawn
maintenance of various South Bend Central
Development Area properties)
Mr. Giulioni noted that certain properties owned
by the Redevelopment Commission are not
receiving the attention to their exterior property
maintenance that they deserve. To ensure that
these properties are better taken care of, the staff
recommended that the Commission retain a
private company to be responsible for the
necessary maintenance, such as grass cutting and
weed control. He also noted that due to the
current seasonal demand for landscape
maintenance, the staff was only able to get one
quote. That quote was provided by H.S. Altman
Inc. The quote includes an initial clean-up and
then bi- weekly care. The cost of the initial clean
up will be approximately $225.00 for Parcel B
and $220.00 for ParcelC. Parcel A will not have
an initial clean-up cost. The cost of the bi-
weekly care will be $55.00 per parcel. Mr.
Giulioni stated that the staff considers the
estimate provided to be reasonable and
recommended that the Commission authorize
H.S. Altman, Inc. to proceed with the clean-up.
-18-
COMMISSION TABLED ITEM 6.J
TO THE NEXT MEETING ON
AUGUST 04, 2000
