South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -June 16, 2000
6. NEW BUSINESS (CON'T)
c. continued...
Ms. Moran read the Tax Abatement report for
American Home Dreams. The company will
construct four new homes, each being 1600 sq.
ft., with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a full finished
basement, and a two car garage. The floor plan
will also include a full kitchen with a breakfast
nook. The sale price of each home will be
approximately $107,100 and they will be made
available to low and moderate income first time
home buyers. Qualified buyers will also be
eligible for a mortgage subsidy of between
$15,000 and $17,000 through the St. Joseph
County Housing Assistance Office.
A review of the tax abatements previously
granted finds that American Home Dreams, Inc.
has been granted numerous previous tax
abatements. A review of the petition finds that
the properties are properly zoned for the
proposed project and are located in the Sample -
Ewing Development Area, which is a Tax
Increment Allocation Area.
Mr. Robert Hunt asked that it be noted that Mr.
Jon Hunt is on the American Home Dreams, Inc.
board of managers, but has had no part in
approving these tax abatements.
Upon a motion by Mr. Kahn, seconded by Ms.
Jones and unanimously carried the Commission
approved Resolution No. 1766 approving an
application for real property tax deduction for
property located at 113, 115, and 138 Broadway
and 710 Pennsylvania Avenue in the Sample -
Ewing Development Area.
