NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
d. continued...
Mr. Foti stated that Memorial Hospital
serves primary and secondary hospitals
which want to transfer patients from those
hospitals to hospitals which offer more
specialized services and have a large
component of specialists on their medical
staff. He also stated that Memorial Health
System is the largest tertiary between
Chicago and Detroit. Mr. Foti explained
that location is extremely important.
Mr. Foti stated that both their Strategic
Plan from 10 years ago and the Strategic
Plan which they completed recently
confirmed that their current location on
Michigan Street is where they want to be.
He also stated that Memorial Health
System took a physical look at the areas
surrounding its facility on Michigan Street
to determine the availabilities in order for
them to continue their growth. As such,
they entered into a variety of conversations
with their neighbors and property owners
within the Michigan Street area and
different departments of the City of South
Bend. Mr. Foti stated that they feel their
major growth will always be on the
Michigan Street campus.
