South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - December 17, 1999
Mrs. Kolata stated that item 6.b. sets the
Blackthorn Golf Course Budget for the
Year 2000. The Budget lists projected
income and operating expenses and shows
that there will be sufficient funds to make
the lease payments on the bond issue.
Mr. Hunt opened the public hearing for
anyone that wished to speak regarding
Resolution No. 1721. Jim Ciermiak stated
"I would like to congratulate the
Redevelopment Department and
Meadowbrook Golf on the success of the
Blackthorn Golf Course. For someone
who was very skeptical about the golf
course, it is good to see that you're not
always right about some things —I was
wrong about Blackthorn. The numbers
have always been very positive right from
the start and seem to be continuing. I do
have one concern and would like to have
you address it briefly: Will the opening of
Notre Dame's Golf Course have an impact
on Blackthorn? " Mrs. Kolata stated that
was something that the Blackthorn Joint
Committee was obviously very interested
in. She also stated that it is believed that
some outings which currently are at
Blackthorn, and certainly those that are
Notre Dame related, will go to Notre
Dame's new Golf Course. The Blackthorn
Joint Committee has information
regarding the prices of Notre Dame's new
golf course. She commented that
Blackthorn will feel some impact from
Notre Dame's new golf course, but
Meadowbrook Golf Course is confident
that Blackthorn Golf Course will reach its
-5-
