South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Rescheduled Regular Meeting - August 13, 1999 <br />5. OLD BUSINESS <br />There was no Old Business. THERE WAS NO OLD BUSINESS <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. Receipt of Bids for Disposition Parcel <br />No. 5 in the Sample -Ewing Development <br />Area. (Main and Sample Streets) <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that two bids were <br />received for purchase of the property at <br />Main and Sample Streets. The deadline <br />date for receipt of Bids was August 6, <br />1999, at 10:00 a.m. Two bids were <br />received by that deadline but were not <br />opened as there wasn't a quorum for the <br />Regular Commission Meeting. <br />She opened the first bid. It was from John <br />Becker, President of Apex Properties, Inc. <br />The bid is subject to the City of South <br />Bend warranting the environmental safety <br />of the property. The proposed purchase <br />price was $33,550. The required ten <br />percent performance guarantee in the <br />amount of $3,355.00 was submitted by <br />Apex. Apex proposes to develop a <br />quality, retail service facility with <br />extensive greenbelt landscaping, attractive <br />site lighting and quality construction. <br />There will be a Studebaker motif <br />complementing the architecture and <br />building exteriors in the surrounding area. <br />The proposed development will be in <br />excess of 8,000 sf. The proposed <br />development will be anchored by a <br />proposed 7- Eleven convenience store with <br />gasoline sales and additional adjoining <br />multiple retail /service uses such as a <br />-4- <br />
