NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />a. continued... <br />The Lots are on the north side of Colfax <br />Street directly behind West Washington <br />Place, (the affordable rental units <br />developed by South Bend Heritage <br />Foundation). A combination of one and <br />two story, single family, owner <br />occupied houses will be built on these <br />lots. The estimated cost per unit is <br />$80,000 with a total estimated project <br />cost of $640,000. The entire tract of <br />land has been vacant for approximately <br />5 years and SBHF wishes to return it to <br />a neighborhood and make the houses <br />available to low -to- moderate income <br />persons. The potential buyers for these <br />eight houses may be eligible for a <br />mortgage subsidy of $15,000. <br />A review of the tax abatement records <br />finds that South Bend Heritage has been <br />associated with several previous tax <br />abatements <br />The South Bend Heritage Foundation is <br />in compliance with the reporting <br />requirements for each of the previous <br />abatements. <br />The building commissioner has <br />reviewed the petition and finds the <br />property to be properly zoned for the <br />proposed project. <br />HAWPDATATOMMSM040999.MIN -6- <br />
