South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - February 19, 1999
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
p. continued....
Mr. Rock stated that there are issues
regarding the exterior of the building.
Some individuals on the Architectural
Design Review felt that there is too much
vinyl siding on the proposed building.
The staff would like to see a full masonry
finish on the building. The Architectural
Design Review Committee also felt that
there wasn't enough room between the
parking lot's setback to install enough
bermming or landscaping. Mr. Rock
commented that the latter could be worked
out.
He also stated that the other issue which
needs to be addressed is the view of the
wetlands. The Guidelines state that it is up
to the discretion of the Architectural
Design Review Committee to protect the
view to the wetland so that it is not
blocked.
Mr. Rock commented that another
developer in the Blackthorn Corporate
Park wanted to use cedar finishing on the
exterior of their building; however, the
Commission strongly objected to the cedar
siding. Mr. Rock stated that John Sullivan
also has a height variance, which could be
dealt with, but the exterior materials are
really an issue.
HAWPDATATOMMSM021999AN -31-
