Memo
To: Redevelopment Commissioners
From: Mary Beth Thompson
CC: Client File
Date: September 24, 1998
Re: Affordable Home Repair -617 S. Columbia
I just wanted to inform the commission that the homeowner of the above address
declined assistance through the Affordable Loan program. This was the Monroe
Park home that had a very unique roof that needed quite expensive repair work.
The work was approved by the Commissioners in August. When Bureau employees
called the client to complete the loan closing schedule, the client said he changed
his mind, due to the cost. He was advised of the roofs poor condition and the fact
that patching would not be a solution. He still declined.
I suspect this client will return to the Bureau for assistance in a short time, probably
after the heavy rain season in spring. I recall members of the Redevelopment
commission drove through the neighborhood during the approval process and I just
wanted to explain why this house is not being repaired on the occasion of any future
visits to the Monroe Park neighborhood.
Sincerely,
Mary Beth Thompson
• Page 1
