South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting of February 6, 1998 <br />Mrs. Kolata asked permission to table <br />items 6.a and 6.b. until February 20, 1998. <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. Commission approval requested for <br />Resolution No. 1573 approving an <br />application for real property tax <br />deduction. (South Bend Redevelopment <br />Commission on behalf of SBCC <br />Development Corporation) <br />Mrs. Kolata stated that the Redevelopment <br />Commission, as owner of the building, <br />needed to sign the petition for tax <br />abatement. She asked that the <br />Commission ratify her signature on the <br />petition. <br />Upon a motion by Ms. Schwartz, seconded <br />by Ms. Auburn and carried, the <br />Redevelopment Director's signature on the <br />tax abatement petition was ratified. <br />Ms. Nancy Van Scoyk gave the staff <br />report on this project. <br />South Bend Chocolate Company is <br />planning to renovate the 10,000 sf former <br />Center City Associates building for retail <br />and office use. The South Bend Chocolate <br />Company will occupy 1,200 sf facing <br />Michigan Street in which they will <br />develop a new type of store called a <br />"Chocolate Cafe," which will sell South <br />Bend Chocolate Company's chocolates, <br />coffee, hot chocolate and chocolate ice <br />cream. South Bend Chocolate Company <br />intends to develop the balance of the first <br />floor into a row of small scale shops facing <br />-5- <br />ITEMS 6.A. AND 6.13. WERE TABLED UNTIL <br />FEBRUARY 20, 1998 <br />
