South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - November 21, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
g. continued....
south on Michigan or the facilities located
now across the street or are under
construction across the street, to the east.
At this point, I like to at least voice, as one
Council member, what would seem
presently to be somewhat unalterable
opposition to the acquisition as planned.
If anything, I would asked that the
Commission consider tabling
consideration of that particular parcel until
such time that the two Committees of the
Common Council have a chance to
examine it further.
Mr. Hunt asked if there was anyone else
who wished to speak regarding Resolution
No. 1550.
STAN TOMASZEWSKI: I own the
property on the corner of Garst and
Michigan Street -1101 South Michigan. I
really don't have any desire to leave that
area you know. I am running a restaurant
there. I have been there for approximately
eleven years. I believe that the area needs
a place to eat. I am already in the
Studebaker Corridor. I don't know if the
Studebaker Corridor is dead or what. Now
you want to take this project and build
another project. You want to leave Joe
where he is and take me out. What are
you guys up to? What are you going to do
with that corner? I don't want to go. I just
want you to know that it hurt my feelings
hearing about this. I don't want to leave
my area. I own that corner
H:\ HOME\CPHIPPS \WPDATA \COMMSN\ 112197.MIN -31-
