South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - November 21, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
g. continued....
concern is to acquire the property... (tape
ran out) ... a radio tower and a junk yard for
a construction company. I have a business
there and I have been there for 30 years.
This piece of property is a valuable piece
of property to my business; it is an access
off of South Michigan Street. I have been
paying taxes on this property and I have
kept the property up. I have no problems
with future improvements or whatever.
The problem that I have is to just come
and take down three or four pieces of
property and leave them vacant with no
specific use whatsoever. Every time I talk
to the Commission or the Redevelopment
people, they have a different plan or they
don't know or well we haven't gotten to
that yet. I don't have a problem if you
have a specific thing going in there or
something, I can live with that, but what I
can't live with is to just come and take
peoples' property for supposedly future
expansion.
JOHN HOSINSKI: I know most of you
people on the Commission. My name is
John Hosinski, I am an at -large
representative on the South Bend City
Council. I am Chairman of the Zoning
and Annexation Committee of that body. I
have asked John Broden, one of my
colleagues, to call a meeting of his
Community and Economic Development
Committee the week after Thanksgiving,
and I am going to call a meeting of the
Committee of Zoning and Annexation as
H:\I TOME\CPHIPPS \WPDATA \COMMSN\ 112197.MIN -28-
