South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - November 21, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
g. continued....
November 21, 1997, one remonstrance has
been received on Resolution No. 1550.
Mrs. Kolata explained that the purpose of
Resolution No. 1550 is to amend the
Sample -Ewing Development Plan by
adding a number of properties to the
acquisition list. There are two properties
located at the intersection of Calvert and
Fellows Street. One of the properties is
occupied by a business known as
Bandito's Burritos owned by Thomas
Doran and Leon Eck and the other
property is Abe's Plumbing owned by
Mark Campbell. These two properties are
located within a residential area and are
non - residential properties. They are also
located at the entrance of the new Riley
High School. Relocating these two
properties to another area will eliminate an
inappropriate use in the residential
neighborhood and improve the appearance
of the entrance to the new Riley High
School.
Mrs. Kolata also explained that there are a
number of properties located in the 1100
Block of South Michigan. There is a
quarter block of property South of Garst
Street: Mary Lee's Diner, a vacant lot, a
larger building and the Palm Reader's
house. The purpose of acquiring this
quarter block is to make it available for
new development that coincides with the
new developments that are taking place
across the street with the construction of
HAHOME\CPHIPPS \WPDATA \COMMSN\l 12197.MIN -21-
