shelters, bike racks and bike storage units. Met with Brian Becker who had inquired about
the stone eagle that his father acquired; it was not from the former Eagle's Aerie on
Michigan Street. Could not locate a building or site that would accommodate a 400 pound
stone eagle. Attended the Notre Dame reception for Dr. Clough of die Smithsonian
Institute.
9 May Commissioners' packets assembled and mailed. Worked on draft for
Transpo's 106 Review.
12 May Attended the NICH Finance Committee meeting. Learned that CFH had
plans to move die Navarre Cabin from Leeper Park to their Campus once a space had
been cleared for it. That would require the DNR to sign off on dee move as well as HPC
because its located in Leeper Park. More Research is needed. Met with Shubhada Kambli
and Jim Woods (Interim Chief Code Inspector) about the damage over the past 6 months
to 1631 LWW. Shubhada is going to create a "formal structure" that will have the details
of SBFD training activities on vacant and abandoned housing documented in writing with
sign off by Code and SBFD. I suggested that HPC get the listing as well and to sign off on
it.
13 May Follow up with Larry Meteiver on 1631 LWW. Very successful Bus Tour
of the Local Historic Districts for the Thalia Society from Holy Cross Village. At 3:00.
The Thalia Society donated $50.00 in addition to the $50.00 for the brochures. Worked
on new draft of 106 Review for Transpo.
14 May Meeting at die Notre Dame Architectural Library at Bond Hall about the
project they are working on to recreate a virtual historic area in downtown South Bend.
HPC will have Interns 10 hours a week for 10 weeks to gather information for input.
Received phone call advising of extensive landscaping at 209 West North Shore without
COAs. Drove to location and photographed the yardwork.
15 May Created a very tactful letter to Collins' concerning the landscaping. West
North Shore's residents typically have restrained landscaping in their front yards. Included
with the letter were the Standards, the house history and CQA application with deadlines
and meeting dates. Attended 4:30 BSSB Board meeting. Attended 5:30 2 -Way Streets
presentation at the Recital Hall given by Ian Lockwood.
16 May Office closed due to massive downtown power outage at corner of Lafayette
and Washington.
19 May Prepare f`or HPC meeting. Collected data and submitted annual National
Park Service Annual Product Report for CLGs to Steve Kennedy at the DHPA that is due
21 May. Rubble Wall serving as a foundation stabilization inquiry to research.
