Director's Report <br />January 2014 <br />18 December Referred Mr. Witwer to Larry Meteiver on his inquiry into 805 <br />Leland: he's a potential buyer next door for this problem property and wanted to know <br />what his options would be to secure demolition COA. Marie Pauwels (234 8376) called on <br />behalf of Ted Poledor about landmarking his WW Schneider bungalow at 211 W. <br />Marion. It is rated Outstanding and would 'certainly qualify in a number of criteria. E- <br />mailed links to site; links to plumbing sites and our Contractor Listing; dropped off other <br />paperwork. Tim Scott dropped off COA application for windows; I emphasized that the <br />Commission would expect a rehabilitation analysis and an inspection by Steve. Working <br />on some issues with paperwork from Community Investment going to Code. <br />19 December Phone call from Rees Dieter(5651 Mt. Vernon Way, Racine, WI <br />53406) owner of 611 E. Haney that is on Code's list to have work completed by April <br />2014. He is disabled and on SSA; gave him contact information at Community <br />Investment, South Bend Heritage and sent him hard copy of Contractor Listing. The <br />house was not in the original survey and he believes that it was built for the first black <br />industrialist in South Bend. It's a field stone first storey and brick second level. Finished <br />up with Community Investment 106 Reviews 19 demos, 6 new construction and 1 NNN <br />re-hab. <br />20 December Completed 3 Lead abatement 106 Reviews one for county and two <br />for city. Calendar Project. Building 84 re -light. <br />23 December Attended the dedication of the Eagle sculpture at the Potawatomie <br />Conservatories with Shubhada Kambli, Director of Code Enforcement. The sculpture was <br />to commemorate the 50'' Anniversary of the Ella Morris Conservatory. Routine Office <br />work. Completed 2 106 Reviews for Caregivers. <br />24-25 December Office Closed for Christmas Holidays. <br />26 December Staff Holiday Luncheon at LaSalle Grille. Routine Office work. <br />Prepared funds for Quietus. Contacted Javier Aguilas concerning Gumwood/Cleveland <br />project; he responded that he would arrange a meeting with me and that project manager. <br />Responded to e-mail for meeting next Thursday or Friday with John Friedline about <br />converting the JMS Building to apartments. Contacted Paul Diebold and David Duval <br />about any anticipated changes with the federal tax credits for that meeting. <br />27 December Turned in sales receipts. Routine Office work. Refresher reading <br />on the Secretary of the Interior Standards for adaptive re -use projects. <br />30 December Responded to inquiry about dilapidated greenhouses at the <br />Conservatories. Routine Office work. Turned in fees for December and closed out the <br />books for 2013. <br />
