Director's Report <br />April 2014 <br />17 March Exploring the options with St. Joe County IT to have the Toshiba copier <br />become the Office printer, scanner, fax and copier. Contacted Ann Thornton to see if the <br />electricians could run a line from the second floor. Prepared for HPC monthly meeting. <br />18 March Prepared and mailed approved COA. Attended County Commissioners' <br />meeting to approve Staff attending the Statewide Preservation Conference in New Albany, <br />April 8 -11 and using $100.00 for meal expenses to and from the Conference. All Staff <br />members received full scholarships to the Conference which will cover tuition, meals and <br />hotel accommodations. <br />19 March General Office work. Research sent to Mr. Morris Shapiro of Florida on <br />East Wayne Street LHD. Presentation at the Izaak Walton League on Historic Theatres <br />and Opera Houses between 6:00 -9:00 p.m. <br />20 March Received e -mail from ND Engineering student, Jenny Loconsole about her <br />group project on proposed improvements to Leeper Park! The attachment contained the <br />entire project-first HPC ever heard of it- students unaware that Leeper Park was a <br />Landscape Landmark and on the National Register. Set up meeting for Friday afternoon. <br />Working with Sheila Mc Carthy to gain control of 614 S. St. Joseph which the Commission <br />approved a demolition COA and then showed up on the Tax Sale. <br />21 March Researched Wertz/Besde Farm and sent information to heirs of former <br />owners. Met with ND Engineering students and Eric Horvath, City Engineer and their <br />Professor about their proposal for Leeper Park. Gave them copies of the Standards and <br />Guidelines for Leeper Park, etc. Also, cautioned them that their concept of giving public <br />better access to the Duck Pond did not mean that the public wanted to be in the duck <br />pond, but just a better path system to it. <br />24 March Personal Day <br />25 -27 March Attended meeting with Memorial Hospital personnel with Ian Lockwood <br />on his proposals for Smart Streets in South Bend around the hospital campus. Continued <br />to work on report requested by Pam Meyers and DCI as a follow up to our meeting with <br />the Mayor's Office. General Office Work. On site visit to 610 N. St. Joe for pictures for <br />needed repairs. <br />28 March Completed a draft report for Pam Meyer requesting her input as to if the <br />information /Format would suffice. <br />31 March Month end reports. Continued to work on hooking computers to copiers <br />with Adams Remco, Shawn (574 288 2113. Marco Mariani requested letter of support for <br />position of APC against Bumbaca re- zoning issue going before Common Council on 14 <br />April. Contacted Tim Sexton about a hic -up with the Notre Dame postcard. <br />
