22 April Paul Diebold from the DHPA e-mailed about tabling the NR nomination for <br />Marquette School at the request of the DNR. Followed up with Shubhada Kambli about arranging <br />a tour with Steve Szaday of problem areas in historic districts. RME issued for 626 Portage for <br />new owner Mike Janovic for chain link fence extension and the gate required by the Fire Marshall. <br />Meeting with Roman Sysyn about COA to restore second storey railing system on porch. Arts <br />District Charrette in East Bank Village at Circa Arts. <br />23 April Invoiced Todd Zeiger for 5 window sashes that he picked up last week. Alerted <br />Ryan Dvorak to possible snag in NR nomination for Marquette School. E-mailed Hannah Blad <br />information she requested on the Natatorium. Attended Clean Air Luncheon. Provided <br />information to Brandon Anderson, new assistant director at NICH, on the Navarre Cabin Grant. <br />Scanned and emailed Navarre Cabin Grant Covenant letter and e-mails to Brandon Anderson. The <br />DHPA is concerned about shutters on second storey windows without approval—these were <br />mentioned in the Covenant letter. Mike Keen at 1012 Riverside Dr. called and wants to work with <br />HPC in order to install solar panels from Inovateus, a local company, to power his Nissan LEAF <br />(he wants to plug into the sun). Researched that issue and passed on pertinent information from <br />Secretary of the Interior to Larry Meteiver, Steve and Elicia. 1012 Riverside has clay the roofs <br />but the garage and sunroom have flat roofs with a parapet in front. Spoke with Mario Sims about <br />the Church in Taylor's Field and what types of work would be restricted by HPC. <br />24 April Meeting with Tom Anderson about fence in rear of house on Riverside Drive in <br />River Bend LHD and the need for a COA application. Researched information for Don Freley on <br />local historic bottling companies and referred for further information to NICH. Exchanged e-mails <br />to set up meeting with Staff and Keens at 1012 Riverside. <br />25 April Received Ryan Dvorak's response -that he hasn't had time to look into Marquette <br />delay. Spoke with Paul Diebold and he claims that the negative letter from the School Corp <br />caused concerns with the DNR; he forgot about the letters in support submitted with the CLG <br />Report; but mentioned that there wasn't a letter from the Mayor either. Mayor Pete needs to <br />send a letter either agreeing with the landmarking or not agreeing with it but submitting it to the <br />DHPA. Molly Moon stopped in for her in-kind wood picket fence replacement RME. Attended <br />reception for retiring David Bainbridge, Chief Curator for the Northern Indiana Center for History; <br />met extensively with Randy Ray, Marilyn Thompson, Chris O'Brien, Evie Kirkwood, Brandon <br />Anderson and the Sporleders. The Sporleders claim that a member of the First Presbyterian <br />Church has purchased the dealership building and the Frederickson Candy Store, but didn't recall <br />the name. Watched Steve Szaday and Randy Ray on "Ask An Expert". <br />26 April On site meeting with Steve at 61723 Oak with Ulley Corp members Don Nuner <br />and Susan Millar; Gene Bridger, who lives in the house and keeps up with repairs, and property <br />managers, Larry Smith and Julie Matthys. The meeting was about the double corn crib that is <br />deteriorating. It can be saved and restored on the foundation with new roofing. Steve offered <br />suggestions and solutions to the problems. Don Nuner is President of Undergound Pipe and <br />Valve, 1077 Oliver Plow Ct. 46601. I am sending him a copy of the landmarking Ordinance. <br />29 April Following up with Mayor and Staff about "Transmittal Letter" for Marquette <br />School. Reminded Mayor and Staff of the presentation on May 1 at Notre Dame on the East <br />Bank from Lucien Stiles Studio Class. Attended Ante Glavas' Business of Sustainability Professor <br />at Notre Dame's Mendoza School of Business class' presentation on the options for the State <br />Theatre's HVAC, waste systems and Community relations. <br />30 April Continued e-mails with Derek and provided language for a letter of support for <br />Marquette School that referenced its status as a local landmark and the state and national letters <br />of support that received. Turned in April fees and sales receipts. Steve and I attended the CVB <br />2 <br />
