Meeting with NDU's Micro
Venture Consulting team members, Ming and Lex:
Would you be available to meet some time this week to discuss a Taylor's Field project? I'm not
sure if this is exactly what you're envisioning, but my vision of the project looks something like
this:
1) Todd Zeiger from Indiana Landmarks could provide funding for a rehab project with the FLIP
program
2) Funding from Indiana Landmarks goes to Habitat, who will keep construction costs low
because of their human resources and material discounts
3) Habitat volunteers will be well managed through the Monroe Park Neighborhood Association
4) Ivy Tech will provide Taylor's Field project as fieldwork component of their environmental
design program - Ivy Tech students can provide a supervisory role for the Habitat volunteers
5) HPC has supervisory role over Ivy Tech students for historic preservation aspects of rehab;
Elicia, will you be teaching the historic preservation course for the environmental design class at
Ivy Tech?
6) Jim Kelly from ND can provide pro-bono legal work for the project
That's the process I'm thinking of, but I'm not sure about the scale. Do you envision working on
one house first? Or multiple houses? Is this similar to what you are thinking?
Also, which type of house would you be targeting? Of course historic - ones in danger of
demolition yet repairable?
We were thinking we could take a look around the Taylor's Field area to compose a list of
potential houses.
