We <br />have 100+ in the next two weeks alone, and even more scheduled during the First <br />Fridays events and private tours that are scheduled through the remainder of the <br />year. The department heads of the local government and those involved with ED <br />should be mandated to attend one of our tours so they know what it is they are <br />promoting! <br />We are contributors to the Then and Now Architectural Tours, The Heritage Tour, <br />the West Washington Tour, the Local Historic Districts Tours, the Studebaker <br />Bendix Trail, and the Studebaker Walking Tours. If we had a tourism board, we <br />would be on it. <br />Revolving Loan/Property Enrichment <br />- Creation of a revolving loan program specifically designed to aid those property <br />owners who live in Local Historic Districts or Local Landmarks. This loan would <br />be designated to help with those that would those that need structural repairs <br />(roofs) or beautification (painting) in order to maintain property values and <br />overall appeal of the neighborhoods. This grant could be through donations, and <br />managed pro bono by one the local financial institutions. <br />-A majority of grant (CDBG) money (70 %) is set aside for low- income housing, <br />but the remainder is not other than it has to be housing. Why are we not a part of <br />this ?! <br />Why isn't HPC part of the distribution of these funds, since we already sign off on <br />the 106s? <br />- Partnering with the city's energy /sustainability office develop language to <br />convey the environmental impact of restoration and rehabilitation versus <br />demolition and new construction. The current plan of 1000 demolitions in 1000 <br />days is not an environmentally responsible course of action. <br />Deconstruction and Architectural Salvage <br />-We are all fully aware that the those 1000 houses create a massive amount of <br />tonnage to the landfills using even more energy to carry them out and hauling the <br />debris away. <br />-There is value beyond the pipes and copper wire!
