Director's Report <br />October 2012 <br />17 September Avon continued to be the topic of the day. Meeting with Vickie Dudeck <br />from the County Court House setting up a two hour tour of South Bend that must include <br />the Dillinger site. HPC meeting. <br />--18 September 7:30 AM Rotary Board meeting that again addressed -the proposed <br />Centennial Project for Howard Park. Prepared and mailed out approved COAs. Spoke in <br />support of the re -zoning of 621 Lincoln Way East. Attended Green Drinks and promoted <br />the landmarking of the Avon with individuals. <br />19 September Spoke with Steve Kennedy at the DHPA; he has never received the <br />Covenant Letters from NICH on the Navarre Cabin Grant. Staff meeting to organize <br />priorities and projects for the balance of the month and October. Walking tour of <br />downtown South Bend for material for Energy Week presentation. Contacted <br />Commissioners for dates and times to inspect the Avon. Discussion with Larry Meteiver <br />about the most recent developments with the Avon, Library and Mayor's Office and the <br />development of an MOU. 5:00 meting with BSSB Events Committee and South Bend <br />Parks' Foundation with Sue Solmos and Liz Maradik from C&ED about the Gala Fund <br />raiser for the Conservatories on 10/27. <br />20 September Preparation for presentations during Energy Week 24-28 September. Avon <br />Theatre follow up with Commissioners. Turned in Payroll. Research for Friday 28 <br />September tour to highlight the Court Houses and John Dillinger. <br />21 September Staff traveled to North Liberty to view the North Liberty Town Park and <br />give letter of support for grant for its restoration; review the buildings in the scope of the <br />National Register nominations; review the site of a 106 Review on a new development. <br />24 September Mayor Pete called with the news that Larry Meteiver had prepared the <br />MOU between the HPC and the Library in which the facade would be salvaged and stored. <br />Met with President Klusczinski with the MOU and passed on suggestions to Larry later in <br />the day. He would craft the language to address the outstanding COA to demolish. <br />Worked on scanning 35 mm slides for display at the Seitz Park dedication. Spoke with 2 <br />County Landmark owners responding to Steve's Minimum Maintenance Letters: Tom <br />Rupard at 61061 Bremen and Greg Elliott at 61191 US 31 South. <br />25 September Steve and Elicia presented at the Martin Luther King Center for Energy for <br />most of the day. I was at the Office. Presented at 11:00 Data Board meeting concerning <br />the need for an icon identifying historic structures on the tax system. Met with Steve Matz <br />with River Realtors who is positioning the Magnolia at 325 W. North Shore. It is included <br />in the October district tour and he was concerned that people would go inside. He will <br />work with owner to address the issues on the exterior. Finished display on the St. Joseph <br />River and hydro electric power. Presented at the County Council 5:30 Committee meeting <br />for an out of line transfer of $500.00 to Gasoline from Other Contractual Services. <br />
