STAFF RECOINUMENDATION: The garage is not shown on the 1932 Assessor's Card, so it may not be original
to the house. Preservation Specialist, Steve Szaday has inspected these doors and said that they are very heavy
because they have been repaired/reinforced with 2x4s so many times that it has become difficult for the owners
who are in their 70s -80s to operate them. Staff has also not been able to identify a garage door manufacturer that
can match the existing doors* configuration. Replicas of the doors would have to be custom built. Staff
recommends that if the Commission approves the replacement doors that these front garage doors be stored in the
rafters of the garage or basement of the house. It is the Preservation Specialist's opinion that if the doors stored.ill
the garage that the rafters would need to be reinforced.
Callierine D. Hostetler,
Director
