Director's Report January, 2012 20 December Prepared COA Permit for the Kline's and dropped it off at their home. Drove through West North Shore, Riverside and Chapin Park LHD. Reviewed the proposal for 735 LWE for Prairie Salvage architects ADG. 21 December Magnet Mailing and Newsletter project to 896 residences in districts and landmarks. 22 December Continued to stuff envelops and take to mail room. Received the 106 Preliminary proposal for the work on the Leeper Park Bridge. Meeting with Greg Kil and BSSB board members about the proposed new flooring in the Conservatories. Arranged with Heidi to meet with Evie Kirkwood to view the Ethan Allen Reynolds memorial and its possible relocation at the Conservatories or the Park. 23-26 December Office Closed for Christmas Holiday 27 December Reviewed the Leeper Bridge repair proposal. Went to Beildix Woods to view the Reynolds monument with Heidi Gray. It is a massive solid granite horse trough with a separate and equally massive, solid granite monolith marker. It was located at the side of the Studebaker Club House and no one knows why it was there or if the Reynolds family had any connection to the Studebakers or the Company. It was moved to the site in the woods so that the Club House could be re -pointed. I will research if there was a relationship to Studebaker and check with Travis Childs if the Reynolds' are buried in City Cemetery. Steve Szaday was added to the insurance for the car as of I January 2012 and Wayne Doolittle was removed from the policy. 28 December Worked with Steve Szaday on 5 106 Reviews for grants. Wrote the letter to Staffan Peterson at INDOT on the Leeper Park Bridge proposal reminding them also that Leeper Park is a landmark and will need to be restored if they use it as a staging area and that COAs will be need for the Bridge work. Received information that Valerie Schey, newly elected Common Council member and resident of E. Wayne Street LHD, has set a goal of de -listing East Wayne Street as a District. 29 December Organizing paperwork and process to have Steve registered as a Vendor so that he can begin to draw a paycheck. Paperwork for network access for Steve. Compiled year end statistics and turned in COA fees for December. 30 December Completed letter to INDOT on Leeper Bridge and it will be mailed out at the beginning of the new year. E-mailed Luella Beth Hillen of ASC our approval of the work proposed for New Carlisle. Turned in funds for HPC Nuts and Survey Books. RME for 609 N. Lafayette re -roof. Russ Luchies called and told me that the old South' Bend Toy Building's brick fagade was falling off. Contacted Code Inspector, Brian Haygood with the information and Russ' contact information.
