3 February Spoke with Marco Marian, South Bend Heritage, about the possible work <br />in River Bend LHD from the NNRO and Memorial Hospital and the Rushton <br />Apartments. On site visit to Oliver Inn with Elicia, Steve and Intern, Hannah. Steve <br />contacted the SBCSC Building Trades Director about having a field trip to teach the <br />students about stripping paint, etc. Returned Jeff Dierbeck's phone call about 61369 <br />Miami Highway. The barn is rated notable in the survey and sent to him a link for the <br />National Trusts "Barn Again" web page. Jeff is considering purchasing the property and <br />restoring the barn that the previous owner let the roof implode. Responded to Rob <br />Nichols' e-mail about the language for the COA for the Leeper Bridge repairs. <br />Responded to Todd Zeiger's e-mail and photographs about the work he proposed for the <br />Kizer House at 803 W. Washington that HPC has the fagade easement; advised him the <br />removing non -original additions to the main house and non -original windows in the <br />Carriage House would require a COA; referred issue to Larry Meteiver as well. <br />6 February Completed 4 106 Reviews. Sent Contractor listing to Troyers so that they <br />could get a licensed contractor to give estimates for interior work on Hickory Road <br />landmark. Contacted Marcia Qualls on the downed light post in the 1200 block of East <br />Wayne Street; lantern is missing. Responded with window restoration information to <br />1733 E. Wayne Street for Dan and Christine Hatcher. <br />7 February Meeting with HPC Attorney about three problem landmarks in downtown <br />South Bend; 110-112 Franklin, 115 S Lafayette (Dean Building) and 319 N. Williams. <br />Requested letters to be sent with stern language before turning into Code. Lunch with <br />Sue Solmos discussions about 2012 Lunch and Learn, Landlord registration issue and <br />Code. Returned e-mail Matt Sikora, Assistant to Mayor, Terry Bush's contact <br />information so that Mayor Pete can give an address to Rotary in April. Researched <br />Historic District Information on revitalization. Spoke with Jackie Beals from Custom <br />Awning about the proposed awnings along the south facade and entry canopies for the <br />Navarre Cafe; Brad Toothaker is requesting variances, etc. Setting up meeting with <br />Patrick Henthorn, Engineering, about proposed sewer work in the brick streets of the E. <br />Washington National Register District. <br />8 February The initial review of West La Salle National Register District. General <br />Office work. <br />9 February On site visit with Elicia to 1733 E. Wayne to determine if front door was <br />original to the house. It is not. Also checked up on house on North St. Joseph Street that <br />has been having interior work done. Photographed E. Washington intersection, subject of <br />meeting with Engineering. Met with Patrick Henthorn and Brian Arterbery of RW <br />Armstrong. Currently in the planning stages of the CSO work for E. Washington which <br />will require excavating down 10 feet after all the bricks are removed. They are <br />considering options such as narrowing the street, new street light, curbing and guttering, <br />removing disruptive trees in the tree lawn and handicapped accessible corners. Finished <br />West LaSalle nomination and began to look up homeowners for notification letters. <br />Attempted to contact Royce Baier of Royce Restorations who is an expert on Brick <br />Streets. <br />3 <br />
