Director's Report <br />April 2012 <br />20 March Prepared approved COAs and mailed. Sent letter with revised West La <br />Salle map to Dea Andrews 223 Scott and also the "Official's Letter" to Mayor Pete. <br />Attended Green Drinks at the Vine at 6:00. May do a program on Historic Districts with <br />WNIT Brenda Bowyer, Senior Producer for local programming. State Representative, <br />Ryan Dvorak called the Office about the Leeper Bridge and our thoughts on that. Also <br />discussed Marquette School and its adaptive re -use and the value of Historic <br />Districts.Received a response from Larry Szymanski, Senior Industrial Tech teacher at <br />Adams, on why Preservation Trades would not work within the current SBCSC curriculum <br />configuration. Send letter to Mr. Francisco Gonzales on Commission's expectations for <br />612 -614 S. Carroll. Spoke with Bill Sniadecki about adaptive re -uses for Marquette. <br />21 March Attended CVB Luncheon at South Bend Country Club with Staff and Sue <br />Solmos. Topic was choosing the correct social network to promote business.. Elicia and I <br />met with John Hendershot and Ed's Sign World at Central Apartments to review the <br />proposed illuminated signage that will be attached to the Colfax side of the building. <br />Attended the Public Hearing on the proposed Leeper Park Bridge Repairs at 5:30 at the <br />Library. The meeting was well attended, about 30 people, and there were no objections to <br />the actual work being performed to restore the bridge. Most of the Comments centered on <br />the truck traffic and the speed of the trucks. Since 933 is a state road, it's a truck route and <br />trucks cannot be eliminated by state law. <br />22 March Met with David Kopana who purchased John Friedline's House 410 -412 <br />William that had a fire. Researched 310 W. Washington for Marilyn Thompson. <br />Provided documentation to Jamie Ruiz at CBDE on the Wells Fargo Building for their tax <br />credits. Researched to verify the dating on 129 Franklin, 319 William and 720 W. <br />Washington for "Ed ". Researched possible funding sources for adaptive re -use of <br />Marquette as a Senior Center. <br />23 March Payroll and general Office work Interviewed by Mark Peterson of WNDU <br />on the adaptive re -uses of Marquette School. Prepared for Presentation before the <br />Common Council on the landmarking of 1922 Portage. Spoke with Bill Sniadecki <br />concerning Marquette <br />26 March Worked with Bill Lamie on 1120 E. Jefferson; problematic column bases <br />and plinth. Reviewed seveil 106 Reviews. Researched information on Stephenson Mills <br />(NR) for John Hendershot while he dropped off COA for new sign. Todd Zeiger and I <br />met with Ann Carol Nash to review Receivership of 319 N. Williams. Todd noted that the <br />property was in foreclosure and that Ocwen of West Palm Beach held the paper; he said <br />that Paul Hayden had been inside the house and that it had been stripped; then it had been <br />boarded up and winterized. Todd asserted that since the lot was incredibly small and so <br />close to Portage that it would need to be either used as business rental if the empty lot to <br />the North owned by John Friedline could be obtained; of have the structure moved again -it <br />was moved over on the lot in the 1920s. Made presentation on 1922 Portage for Local <br />I.andmarking to the Zoning and Annexation Committee. Derek Dieter raised the issue <br />
