Director's Report May 2011 18 April Responded to Cindy Diamond of LL 420 W. Wayne with Custom Steel Design -Shipshewana 260-768 7266 (Kenny Yoder) for repair work on wrought iron railings. Discussed meeting with Brendon Crumlish to review LaSalle Hotel files as lie has an interested client. Followed up with Commissioner Linda Riley on filling the vacancies on the HPC after the History of the Germans in South Bend class. Will provide information on the Standpipe for the next class. Completed 18 106 Reviews for demolition; these were houses that had already been demolished. Received confirmation of Michael Voll's appointment to the Commission from the Mayor. 19 April Participated in 7:30 am Rotary Foundation/Board meeting at the LaSalle Grill. Met witli John Wiltrout at the LL North Pumping Station about work proposed for Leeper Park and ice dam issues on the cupola. Water Works proposes to reroute one of their water mains away from the Reservoir to their building. This would involve some deep trenching which would affect the landscape of the Park until the work was completed. The sod/grass would be restored. The copula was an issue that will need expert advice because of die artisan copper domes and the wood superstructure that is also posing some issues. Wrote up and mailed out all approved COAs to owners. Worked with Commissioners and Staff about 1414 E. Wayne Street. COA that was tabled; and the fallout from tic homeowner. E-mailed thoughts to Larry and Tim. Completed 19 106 Revicws on sites that had already been cleared in the past. 20 April Discussed response to 1414 E. Wayne with Larry and Tim. Wayne is to call for an interior inspection and if she refuses thens documented and the Commission &Fy-1 could address it at die May meeting. Coordinated a t8 meeting with John Wiltrout, Paul Schmidt, Russ Luchies and Staff to meet in the morning to examine the cupolas on the North Pumping Station. On site visit to 612 Portage to see window innovation and its installation. Completed and submitted 24 106 Reviews for demolition. 21 April Completed ten 106 Reviews for demolition for the City. Prepared and submitted payroll. Attended Lunch and Learn on Economic Development, Gary Gilot speaker Brenner of Innovation Park and speaker on Ignition Park. 22 April Great Friday Office Closed 25 April Working with Commissioner Riley on Commission vacancies. Attended final class in the History of the Germans in South Bend. Reviewed minutes from C. J. Cunningham of the Troyer Group on the 14 April meeting at Snyder Farm. Completed thirteen106 Reviews for demolition for the City. 26 April Attended the Clean Air Luncheon in Elkhart. Met with Jessica Clark about the AEP moving the light pole on Adams and Cherry in front of the landmarked Snyder Farm. Followed up with Thia Vawter of Dept. of Public Works on 106 Reviews needed
