Met with Dave <br />Thomas on the situation on the Dean Building with its two million plus valuation and its <br />half million in back taxes and penalties. He is going to find out why the property didn't <br />go on a tax sale. (He feels that a possible scenario is that the owner leveraged the inflated <br />value of the property which would have increased the assessed value. When the real <br />estate bubble burst -the ownerlbank were under collerallized.) He also put Alice McLane <br />in the Agenda for the next Commissioners' meeting. Followed up with Rochelle Day <br />(Rodsmiema(a ernail.com) 815 549 5342 on 547 Rive Avenue. Returned Ted Poledor's <br />phone call 234 8376. Met with Dave Relos and compiled the information he requested <br />on the LaSalle Hotel and the immediate vicinity for a prospective buyer. Worked on <br />Architecture Tour. <br />8 June Strategy session with Tim Klusczinski and Elicia about the PIP National Register <br />Nomination for Marquette School. Roger Parent responded that Superintendent Kapsa <br />needed to be contacted; Derek Dieter said that he could meet on Wednesday at 10:00. <br />Received an e-mail from Heather Moriconi of the Marquette Montessori PTO stating <br />that the PTO had its last meeting of the year, but she would garner support in the fall. SB <br />Councilman, Henry Davis responded to Catherine Toppel's e-mail to HPC and <br />Edgewater about securing 705, 709-711 LWE. Mary Ellen O'Connell of West North <br />Shore summarized what has been and hasn't in the WNS district. HPC is still waiting on <br />information for historic lighting along West North Shore. On site visit to 1724 E. Wayne <br />with Wayne to photograph house for COA Staff Report. <br />9 June On site interior tour of LL 815 Arch with realtor, Steve Szaday and Wayne <br />Doolittle. House has been striped of all metal, copper, furnace, and 2 toilets. Listing is <br />for $40,000.00. Has some water issues from the chimney and dampness in the basement <br />but is in fairly sound shape. (House did sell for $55,000.00 cash over the weekend.) <br />On sight visit with David Betson Wayne and Steve at 944 Riverside. Removed all <br />aluminum and found a very elaborate Dutch Colonial underneath. Suggested that he <br />consult with HPC architectural historian, David Steinhauer on window details, brackets <br />and side entrance roof. Contacted Joseph Bauer at 1426 E. Wayne (288 6428 <br />jbauer@nd.edu) about procedure to remove a dying silver Maple in his west side yard. <br />Contacted Brent Thompson for assessment. Responded to Councilwoman Ann <br />Puzzello's inquiry about the status of 132 Marquette and the uproar in the area that it may <br />be student housing even after being vacant for over twelve months. Explained that there <br />is currently some information that Chuck Bulot is waiting for and that it could end up in <br />legal. <br />10 June Prepared RME reports for Commissioner's meeting packets. Set Agenda <br />and prepared meeting packets for mailing to Commissioners and Staff Reports to <br />homeowners. Finished up Then and Now with Elicia which was sent to DTSB. <br />Addressed the concept of a fire station and house in Potawatomi Park with Chris Dressel <br />and Fire Chief Howard Buchanon. Gave Chris copy of the deed and deed restriction for <br />Potawatomi Park that requires its use only as a Park -otherwise it reverts to the County. <br />4 <br />
