6 July On site visit and photographs at 834 Park with Steve Szaday. Homeowner <br />proposes to replace casement windows with a bow window on the side of the 1950s <br />addition to the house. Mailed COA application and Contractors Listing. Referred Susan <br />Mazurkiewicz to several contractors about removing an applied surface to the copper roof <br />and flashing of a bow window at 1724 E. Wayne. 1130 E. Wayne may wish to remove the <br />asbestos tile from the roof and replace with architectural shingles by South Bend Roofing. <br />Turned in three sites to John Martinez for graffiti removal: 3,15 LWW, 115 S. Lafayette <br />and St. James Cathedral's Office annex. Filed Jerry Niezgodski's re -appointment to the <br />Commission with the County Council. Received a response to my concerns about the <br />proposed NR nomination for River Park. <br />7 July Chris Jeter of Kugal Lawton called concerning the Northside/26 pathway and <br />setting up a meeting with SHPO, Toni Gifin, Mary Kennedy and FHWA in South Bend <br />to view project with reference to letter just received from Dr. Glass. Met with Carl Littrell <br />and he requested information about repair techniques for the WPA wall in this project. <br />GloryJune Greiff WPA work to research for info. Attended Convention and Visitors <br />Bureau's Industry Partnership luncheon at Notre Dame to meet and network with Mayoral <br />Candidates. On site visit to 944 Riverside Drive with Elicia to meet David Benison and <br />check on his project to restore the facade of his house and paint it. Met with John Lock <br />about awning for 106 N. Main. Spoke with John Wiltrout about removing trees in Leeper <br />Park near North Pumping Station per Brent Thompson and replanting with something <br />other than a maple species. Met with Barry of South Bend Roofing and put COA for 1130 <br />L. Wayne on Agenda. <br />8 July Sue Solmos and I judged the gardens in North Liberty for their contest. Completed <br />Commissioners' packets for mailing. Met with Jason Pfledderer who is performing the <br />work on 501 N. Lafayette for Patrick Mc Coy. Applied for a COA to remove siding and <br />replace. Set up for 15 August meeting. He also purchased LL 815 Arch; provided him <br />with copy of guidelines and copies of information in our files on the boathouse. Toured <br />220 William Street with Elicia. Met with Benson family at Office to look though our <br />library for color schemes for 944 Riverside. Conducted "Now and Then" tour at 7:00 and <br />met with reporter Kevin Allen afterward. <br />11 July General Office work. Massive electrical storm with high winds. Completed <br />copying 815 Arch file and mailed to Jason Pfledderer. Reviewed Hubbard Haven National <br />Register nomination from Kurt Garner. <br />12 July Continued review of National Register Nomination. Organized driving route for <br />106 Reviews for grants and loans. <br />13 July Toured new gallery photographic exhibit at NIGH: "Your photographs, Our <br />History" (?) There were several questionable pieces of information and errors on buildings. <br />Elicia and I drove to Hamilton to view Hubbard Haven structures in National Register <br />nomination; were able to tour die inside of the Hubbard Mansion. <br />14 July General Office work and inquiries. Attempted to reach Gross and Cohen Notre <br />Dame II, LLC, mailed information on East Washington N.R. District to their local Office. <br />
