Director's Report <br />July 2011 <br />21 June Prepared approved COAs for homeowners. On-site 106 Review for City <br />Grant. General Office. Elicia with John Partee and Richard Speiglmyer for seven hours <br />on script for window workshop. <br />22 June General Office. Called Orkin on ant/flying ant infestation in office. E- <br />mailed Randy Ray about the broken windows in the Navarre Cabin in the photographs <br />from Tribune's article on Cabin Days. David Bainbridge still had not addressed the issue <br />from a month ago and people were calling Office because of Cabin Days. Reviewed Then <br />and Now Brochure. Met with homeowners of local landmark 1007 Riverside Drive about <br />painting their home. Given the rain, I recommended that I come out with a moisture meter <br />before any more work was done. Agreed to meet the next day at 10:00. <br />23 June On site 106 Reviews on west side for Grants. Reviewed Then and Now <br />Brochure. Met with homeowner of 1007 Riverside with Steve Szaday and determined <br />house too wet to paint readings well over 18-20%. Advised homeowner to require his <br />painters to acquire a moisture meter and not to paint unless it read at 15%. Received <br />request from Carl Littrell to review the deputy SHPO's comments on the proposed <br />Northside Trail in River Park. The SHPO was requiring that River Park begin the process <br />to become a National Register District. <br />24 June General Office work and organized newspaper clipping and filing. Finalized <br />Then and Now Brochure. E-mailed Chris Dressel about die south side windows of the <br />Burke Building. INDOT called about original plans for Leeper Park Bridge. Spoke with <br />Daniel Corbin (219 325 7584;cell 219 851 1077) about the valuation process for the bridge <br />designed by Charles Cole, Sr. There are no internal trusses as the bridge is not a melan <br />arch. INDOT does not want to replace the bridge. Gave him some family member's <br />contact information. <br />27 June Meeting with Sue Solmos in Community and Economic Development <br />about the recent negative press the City had been receiving, her proposed Ambassador <br />Program to mitigate the negative and the anticipated regime change with a new Mayor. <br />Reviewed the latest Eat.Drink South Bend promo. Studied the letter sent by Dr. Glass <br />with his requirements for the North Side Trail. E-mailed the recommended contact as to <br />who was responsible for coordinating and paying for this National Register Nomination of <br />250 sites. <br />28 June Meeting with Don Horning from East Wayne Street about the repair of tie <br />wall. Called Marcia Qualls and she said that McLaughlin Masonry won the bid for die <br />repair. Total cost including the new light fixture, wiring and conduit installation is $7, <br />163.00 and work is scheduled to start after 4 July. Also, the new heights on Stop Signs is <br />Federal mandate that the bottom edge of the Stop Sign must be seven feet off the ground. <br />Reported south east corner of Navarre and St. Joseph (N. St. Joseph LHD) stop sign is <br />now obscured by a tree and cannot be seen by drivers—who are driving though it. Met with <br />
