Director's Report <br />October, 2010 <br />20 September Met with Jason Ruiz of 830 Forest Avenue in the Office and issued <br />an RME for in-kind repair and replacement of wood porch deck. Responded to a call at <br />710 Park Avenue that a large tree was being removed in the backyard. Kevin's Tree <br />Service was taking down a storm damaged locust tree that was struck by lightening and <br />threatening to fall on the house. All that was standing was the tree trunk, that did show <br />sign of being hit by lightening. Had them complete a COA application and proceed with <br />the removal. Provided Sue at St. Patrick's Church with information on repairs and <br />handicap accessibility, dropped off copy of the Secretary of the Interior Standards. Met <br />with Jeff Gibney and discussed the demolition of 632 Portage. The structure is partially <br />burned and the owner is currently filling an application to demolish. <br />21 September Mailed approved COAs to homeowners. Prepared Minutes from <br />meeting. In line transfers were approved at the County Commissioners meeting. Sent <br />Todd the Sign In sheet from the HPC meeting and asked for corrections. On site <br />inspection with Linda Riley and E. Wayne Street neighbors on two problem properties <br />located at 1105 E. Wayne and 1109 E. Wayne. Met with Joseph Sima 1019 Riverside <br />about what he needed to repair the cedar siding on his house. <br />22 September Composed and mailed letters to Kennedy Kafatia, copies to Larry <br />and Tim, and Georges Enderle. Discussed October 2 presentation program for the <br />Dedication of Lincoln & Dixie Highways Historical Marker with Joyce Chambers, INLHA <br />Secretary. The program has expanded from a five minute talk to a 25 minute presentation, <br />with power point, about the buildings along a 2 block area from the intersection of <br />Washington and Michigan Street between 1913-1940. Finished Draft of Minutes and sent <br />to Commissioners for Comment. Discussed Wayne's attendance at the October 21 20 10 <br />Building Trades in Historic Preservation in Madison, Indiana and Frankfort, Kentucky. <br />23 September Office had two inquiries on St. Joseph County Landmark 60649 <br />Hickory Road one from C&C Service about making repairs for the mortgage company <br />and then from Nicole Joshick, a potential buyer. Destiny Investment Group members - <br />Carolyn Dudley and Henriette Cobbin came to the Office for information about the <br />LaSalle Hotel. <br />24 September Submitted Payroll. Completed Sixteen 106 Reviews. Spoke with <br />Christa Nayder from Area Plan about proposed development at 66321 Walnut4 local <br />landmark site. Worked with Ezra of Opera LaSalle about the website and his grant <br />proposal with Indiana Landmarks. Began to organize materials for October 2 speech at the <br />Lincoln & Dixie Highways. Contacted Larry Meteiver about, meeting dates on personnel <br />questions. <br />
