Assistant Director's Report HPC Meetina 03.15.2010 <br />1. City Cemetery National Register Nomination <br />Gathering research pertaining to Architecture and Social History. <br />Searching for historic photos and maps -having a tough time tracking these <br />down. Left message for John Palmer of the Arcadia Publishing books seeking <br />info and emailed Michiana History Group. Correspondence with Holly Tate, <br />new in the NR role at the DHPA. She is becoming familiar with City Cemetery <br />and is gathering examples of other cemeteries to provide me. Discussion about <br />the training at the Preserving Historic Places conference in April ... setting a goal <br />for myself to have City Cemetery delivered for 2nd review by the May HPC <br />meeting. <br />2. Lunch and Learn Lecture <br />—2.25 presentation by SJCPLibrary on the Past, Present, and Future of the <br />library; presentation by Laura Moran Walton of the Community Foundation on <br />Arts in SB. 3.4 presentation by Marco Mariani of DTSB, Parks Department, and <br />Chris Dressel, City of SB on Bike routes. 3.11 presentation by Don Inks, City of <br />SB on TIF. <br />3. Attend "Sell South Bend" class for realtors at the Near Northwest <br />Neighborhood office. Presentations by NNN: Catherine Toppel and Ann Carol <br />Nash of Code Enforcement, and SB Bicycle Network, Chris Dressel and Mike <br />Divita. Tour of select NNN properties for sale. <br />4. Restore Michiana turned Green Weekend <br />Green Weekend committee meeting at DTSB with WNIT and many <br />others. Solicit estimates for brochures. Preliminary design for possible <br />"Sustainable Preservation" brochure. Review sponsorship opportunities. Invited <br />to present a workshop at GW in partnership with Bill Barnard of the Troyer <br />Group -working on topics. Meeting with Lynn Patrick to discuss signage, <br />banners, brochures. Begin design of Sustainable HP brochure. Preliminary <br />design for "Sustainable Preservation Technical Guide" brochure. <br />5. Southhold Preservation Awards/ DTSB Pride of Place Awards <br />Meeting with Natalie Mast of CBRE at the American Trust Place to <br />discuss needs for the event. Tour of the renovated building and condo <br />development. SH Committee meeting in HPC conference room to finalize <br />nomination form and budget. Prepare SurveyMonkey nomination form. E -blast <br />nomination form, reaching appx. 500 + people. Securing details of caterer, <br />venue, equipment rental, etc... Soliciting local artist for Award production - <br />forwarding information to Committee for review. Design 2 styles of postcard <br />invitation. Meeting with Gene Stowe of SB Tribune, Jitin Kain, and Jennifer <br />Gregar in HPC conference room to discuss inclusion in the Tribune Business <br />Weekly, also went over Press Release and other issues. <br />»»»»»»»» <br />
