The roof is hipped with a central gable dormer <br />covered with asphalt shingles. There is a full width front porch with full height Tuscan <br />columns, with balusters and with lattice below. The windows are 1/1 double hung. There <br />are two front doors. <br />ALTERATIONS: The house has been vinyl sided and has replacement storm windows. <br />In 1942 the home was remodeled into a 2 family dwelling. The garage was added in <br />1949. In 1960 a new rear addition was built. COA#2006-0424 documents a complete <br />tear -off and re -roof with asphalt shingles <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Replace awning windows with double hung 1/1; a complete <br />replacement of the current windows. <br />DISCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT:, The homeowner wishes to replace two <br />awning style windows, one on the west and one on south side, in his 1960 addition to the <br />rear of his house with vinyl double hung windows to match the other double hung <br />windows of the house. He proposes custom made Champion windows 1/1. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: <br />C. WINDOWS AND DOORS <br />Window and door frames are in most cases wood and vary depending upon the style of the home. <br />Many are double hung windows with wood trim and sills. Brick structures have stone sills and <br />brick lintels. In some cases where aluminum siding has been applied, the window and door trim <br />has been covered. About half of the structures in the district have aluminum storm windows; the <br />other half have wood storm windows. <br />Required <br />Original windows and doors shall be retained including sashes, lintels, sills, shutters, decorative <br />glass, pediments, hoods and hardware. When deteriorated beyond repair, they shall be replaced <br />with units and trim resembling the original. <br />Recommended <br />Wood storm windows and doors painted or finished to match the original should be used but <br />should not damage existing frames.
