Wayne is a 1 112 storey frame <br />construction faced with flagstone and aluminum siding with an, irregular plan. It has a front gable roof <br />with simple rake trim covered with asphalt shingles. There is a flagstone chimricy in the center of the <br />gable. There are two gable dormers at the front and a large shed dormer in the near. The windows are an <br />integrated system of 2/2 double hung aluminum windows and altillihittin storms set on stone sills with <br />louvered shutters. The stied porch roof is supported by an ornamental iron support and has a concrete <br />stool). There is a one storey rear addition with a "greenhouse" type bay window, <br />ALTERATIONS: The house has alumintmi siding and storm doors. The rear 14xl6 addition was added <br />in 1959 as a screened in porch. The garage was moved further away from the house in January, 1959. <br />The house was re -roofed in April, 2002 with COA42002-0405. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Replace existing single pane aluminum windows with Marvin thermo-pane <br />aluminum clad wood double hurig, windows. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: The homeowners wish to completely remove the 20 <br />original single pane aluminum, window -storm window systern in the body of the house and replace with <br />Marvin theri-no-pane aluminum clad wood double hung windows replicating the 2/2 muntin pattern. The <br />wood aluminum clad windows have a wider frame and will reduce the light by 2 1/8 inches. In <br />discussions with Mr. Derbin of Riverside Construction the original window system is composed of an <br />inexpensive aluminum that has very little or no insulating value so the window frames become very cold <br />the winterand very hot in the summer. <br />STANDARDS .AND GUIDELINES: East Wavne Street: <br />C. WINDOWS AND DOORS <br />Window and door frames are of Nvood or steel (some casements) or in the case of brick structures, stone sills and <br />brick lintels. Where metal or vinyl siding has been applied, window trim has been covered. Storm windows are of <br />wood or aluminum, <br />Required <br />Original windows and doors shall be retained including saslies, lintels, sills, shutters. decorative glass, pediments, <br />hoods, and hardware. When deteriorated beyond repair, they shall be replaced with units and trim resembling the <br />original. <br />Recommended <br />Wood frame storm windowsand doors painted to match the original should be used but should not dainage existing <br />frames. If new sashes or doors are installed, the existing or original materials, design, and,hardware should be used, <br />When metal storm doors are used, they should be painted, anodized or coated to match the existing. When awmings <br />are used they should be of canvas material. <br />Prohibited <br />Original doors, windows and hardware sballnot be discarded when they can be restored and re -used in place. New <br />window and door openings which would -alter the scale and proportion of the building shall not be introduced. <br />Inappropriate new window and door features such as aluminum insulating glass combinations that require removal <br />of the original windows and doors shall not be installed. <br />
